Yogyakarta - Surabaya (by train) - Mount Bromo Area
The trip starts with a pick-up from your hotel in Yogyakarta at 5.45-ish in the morning. From there, we will take you to the train station and you will depart by train from Yogyakarta to Surabaya. Later, you will meet our driver and professional guide at Surabaya train station and drive to Madakaripura Waterfall. There, you will find a natural 200m height waterfall with many spots relaxing your eyesight. Next, drive to the Hotel (check in). Then, you take a rest before the trip starts at midnight. Around 2 a.m, we will continue the trip by Jeep (4 WD) to enjoy the bumpy road towards Mt. Penanjakan which is the best spot to enjoy the breathtaking scene of Bromo sunrise. Driving down the hill, you will pass the vast sea of sand, resulting from the eruption of Mt. Bromo, in a 30 minute-easy track all the way to the peak. From the crater rim, you can see the active Bromo crater, caldera and the mountainous views of Mt. Batok and the highest mount in Java Island, Mt. Semeru. Also, you can find the Hindu temple reflecting the Majapahit Kingdom history. Next, you can enjoy the breakfast at a local restaurant. After finishing breakfast, the guide will lead you to next destination that is Madakaripura Waterfall. There, you will find a natural 200m height waterfall with many spots relaxing your eyesight.

Mount Bromo can get quite chilly, especially during the early morning hours when visitors typically go to see the sunrise. Temperatures can range from 4°C to 10°C (36°F to 50°F) before dawn. It's advisable to dress in layers and bring warm clothing, such as a jacket, hat, and gloves, to stay comfortable.

Most of the volcanoes in Indonesia are pretty safe to travel. The government always observes the activity of each volcano. Especially for Mt Bromo, there have been close to none of cases where a sudden eruption happens. You can easily notice the smoke erupting from the caldera. White smoke means safe and darker ones means eruption is ongoing.
